Mastering the Physics of Bulk Mask Stacking Packaging 10 to 50 surgical or N95 masks into a single compact carton presents a unique mechanical challenge. Stacks of masks naturally trap air, creating a "fluffy," unstable volume. Standard cartoning pushers often cause the elastic earloops to tangle or the mask edges to catch on the carton flaps, resulting in severe line jams and crushed boxes. SieracTech dictates the solution by engineering a multi-stage cartoning architecture designed specifically to compress, stabilize, and seamlessly insert bulky textile stacks.

High-Speed Rotary Carton Erecting To match the massive output demands of PPE manufacturing, intermittent carton feeding is insufficient. The system initiates the packaging cycle utilizing an advanced rotary carton erector. Multiple vacuum suction heads continuously pull flat carton blanks from the magazine, snapping them open into perfectly squared boxes in a fluid, continuous motion, priming the line for high-speed reception.

Robotic Stack Compression & Stabilization As the pre-counted stacks of masks arrive via the infeed conveyor, they enter the critical stabilization zone. Rather than simply pushing a loose pile, the system employs an overhead robotic compression mechanism. This engineered top-down guide firmly presses the mask stack, evacuating trapped air and physically reducing the overall volume of the payload. This ensures the stack dimensions are strictly controlled before it ever approaches the carton opening.
Synchronized Horizontal Insertion With the mask stack fully compressed and stabilized, the horizontal loading mechanism engages. Driven by precision servo motors, the pusher smoothly advances the consolidated stack into the awaiting erected carton. The synchronized timing between the conveyor chain and the insertion pusher guarantees a frictionless entry, entirely eliminating the risk of edge-catching or carton deformation.
Automated Flap Folding & Closure Once the payload is securely inside, the carton is transferred to the automatic sealing station. Engineered plow folders and mechanical tuckers flawlessly fold the minor and major flaps. The system executes a crisp, perfectly aligned tuck-in closure (or optional hot-melt glue seal), discharging a perfectly squared, retail-ready box of face masks at the end of the line.
